UV-A makes up most of the sunlight that reaches Earth, and UV-B masks the rest. The third wavelength, UV-C, is the highest energy of the three but doesn’t penetrate our atmosphere. That’s fortunate because exposure to UV-C can cause burns within only a few seconds.

However, UV-C is an excellent disinfectant because of its ability to destroy living cells. You can control microbial growth by installing a light capable of emitting UV-C wavelengths in your HVAC. It can prevent the buildup of bacteria, viruses, and spores on the coil, which harm its efficiency.
